All About Me
We are tracing the shape of our body and we are painting the cut-outs the way we like to show that we are unique human beings. It is fascinating to see how they come with different ideas such as outlining their body and filling in the center with different coloured paint.
Dress up and sharing ideas
We are risk-takers
We are enjoying our swimming sessions while learning to be great risk- takers. We can blow bubbles in the water and we have moved to the big pool from the splash pools.
Sharing Our Ideas and Working Together
We are learning to share in a group and to take turns. The boys are sharing their knowledge while trying out a new activity. We are learning our shapes and colors while working on our fine motor skills. We like to read and practice our pre-writing skills with shaving foam.
Mr. Prewitt started our Life Skills lesson by showing the us posters of children who displayed different feelings. The children connected well with the posters while answering the questions. They looked at each child's mouth, eyes and facial expressions. The lesson ended with Bunny and Teddy coming around to get a hug or a pat.
PreK 3D and 3J Reading Buddies
We had Ms. Jakins's third graders come into our class to read to us. They are writing their own books and wanted the Busy Bees to give them little tips as to what they would like to see in a book. We showed our buddies around the classroom and we are looking forward to many more sessions with them.
Benjamin’s visit to the classroom was an exciting event. The children wanted to play with him and he wanted to share his toy with the whole group. We miss you Benjamin and hope to have you back in our classroom soon.
Unit of Inquiry: All About Me
This week we took a picture walk of the book, “Children Around the World” and noticed that some children around the world have pets. We had a long discussion and the students talked about the pets they have and the pets they would like to have. We made a list with pictures.
We read the book "Maisy Makes Lemonade" and Leo came up with an idea of making pink lemonade. We smelled, tasted, felt and squeezed the lemons. Later during the day after recess we sipped our pink lemonade. What a great way to end the week.
Mr. Prewitt visited our classroom with bunny and teddy during the past week. He spoke about using the word "ours" rather than "mine". The Busy Bees did an excellent job in being good listeners.
Ms. Clark makes Day One so special by reading new stories and old favorites. During Library time children choose two books to take home, but they can check out up to 10. Please do visit the library during the weekends or after school to assist children to choose their own reading material.
Our circle times have become more meaningful with our morning message. The children enjoy taking the paper home and it is encouraging to see the comments made by parents on conducting their own meeting at home. We read the morning message which helps us to know the plan of the day and the special helper chooses two songs.
Unit of Inquiry
We started our unit of inquiry "All About Me" and the children are looking at things that make them unique. We had interesting conversations about the different countries we come from and the physical features of our friends. We measured our heights and now we are looking at how we can be independent. We have been looking in to mirrors of different sizes and observing our facial features. Please do visit our classroom to see our self-portraits.
